Ok you are going to need to know some basics for i cloud with snow leopard.
Mail:
Here are your new iCloud server information for snow leopard.
incoming mail server: p04-mail.me.com
outgoing mail server: smpt.me.com
These are your mail settings for snow leopard to access mail.
The other settings for iCloud can be accessed at http://www.icloud.com
also make sure you have updated iPad and iPhone to iOS 5
and you will be just fine.
far from that only basic functions like iTunes can access iCloud in snow |

But can you synchronize your iCal calendar and your addressbook contacts using iCloud on a Snow Leopard Mac? If so, how? _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

It would be great to still have all my Mac's in sync but as I'll probably only really use the Snow Leopard iMac if disaster ever struck my mini its probably worth risking it on my part.
I'll switch my mobile me over to iCloud later and let you know how I get on Fox
cheers for the info macman _________________ Phil

iCloud is working between my Mac Mini and iPad but the Snow Leopard iMac is now completely cut off from the data.
When I go to the iMac and select the mobile me preferences I get the message "Your MobileMe Account has been upgraded to iCloud"
I've changed a couple of address book entries, bookmarks and calendar event and none have shown up on the iMac.
Annoyingly I can't even access iCloud.com to use the web version as it says unsupported browser but it may be I need to do a software update to see if there is an available update to Safari 5.1.1 under snow leopard.
{edit}
software update didn't work as its only giving me the option to add the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo which isn't an option for me as it freezes my iMac
I'll have to look for a manual Safari update.
{edit 2}
I downloaded Safari 5.1.1 for Snow Leopard and it won't install. It gives me an error saying it needs Mac OS 10.6.8
GREAT
Looks like I'll now have to try all the other browsers _________________ Phil

I was on Mac OS X 10.6.2 above. I've now updated to 10.6.6 which had installed Safari 5.0.2 and I can now access iCloud via the browser.
10.6.2 was the last stable release of Snow Leopard on my system. 10.6.6 will cause freezes but I can replace the ATI driver next files and my system will run ok. Any updates after this cause kernel panics at startup if I replace the next files, or random freezes if I don't _________________ Phil

Wow, incredibly helpful! Thanks for doing all this documentation, Cypher.
Now for a clarification of your last post:
As I understand it, you can access iCloud calendars and contacts on your SL iMac through a browser. Does that mean that you can only see them, or is there a way to update the calendars and contacts stored on your iMac? Next question - can you add or remove contacts/events via your iMac? Can they be moved into iCloud?
Thanks again, Cypher _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

The Snow Leopard iMac appears completely cut off from iCloud as far as Calendars & Contacts goes.
Updates to iCal and Address book are only local now for the iMac.
The only way to view and edit the iCloud data from the iMac now is via the browser interface to iCloud.
Another loss are keychains are no longer synced in iCloud and also mail rules, smart boxes and signatures aren't either.
iCloud seems like a step forward but then it bites you with two steps back _________________ Phil

Thanks again, Cypher, for documenting this so extensively. No one else has provided a definitive answer to this conundrum for those operating a mix of SL and Lion computers. I have linked this thread to a posting I made on ehMac.ca where individuals have been trying to guess what will happen by referring to information Apple has provided. Unfortunately, that information is misleading at best on this particular issue.
As for me, I'm going to stick with Mobile Me for as long as I can. I use it only for syncing calendars and contacts, and I use Dropbox for storage. I don't need a service that puts my music and photos in the cloud. It would be nice to have it without losing sync services on SL Macs, but not worth the trade-off for me. I have heard rumours that iCloud will become available on an updated version of SL (10.6.9); this would be great if such an update is coming. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

Unfortunately thats no use to me, 10.6.6 is as high as I can go without the random freezing problems returning I wouldn't mind if it was an ancient Mac but its only 4 years old and is capable of running Lion if it wasn't for this stupid bug introduced at 10.6.3
I had fun earlier with my MBP which iCloud completely messed up and duplicated all of my calendar entries for the last 5 years I ended up having to delete the lot from all my machines and then restore from a backup.
iCloud and Lion have not been an "It just Works" experience for me. _________________ Phil

Am using Aperture 3.2.3 have a humungous picture file, but when I go to iCloud all I can get is Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone, iWork.
I do not have an iPhone or an iPad or do I need iOS5, whatever. Just want to access my pictures, documents, etc. from iCloud. Running system 10.7.4.
Do I have to wait till June when Mobile Me runs out? javascript:emoticon(' ')
