As per Apples Vintage and Obsolete list, the G4 minis are now Vintage.
| Quote: | Vintage products are those that were discontinued more than five and less than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued hardware service for vintage products with the following exception:
•Products purchased in the state of California, United States, as required by statute. Owners of these products may obtain service and parts from Apple service providers within the state of California, United States. |
In two years they will become obsolete and Apple will not service them. No way no how.

Mine are too. I'm not sure when I will be able to buy an intel model. I guess when it's EOL for 10.4, I'll be able to put Linux on it for a modern OS! _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

The original minis are now obsolete, and the Late 2005 and Early 2006 minis are now vintage.

They still have pretty good resale value though. That's always one of the great things about buying a Mac. You can almost always get something out of them when you're ready to move on. I mean, that's almost impossible to do with a PC. You almost have to pay to give them away. |

the issues of which you dont understand is that several linux distros no longer work on powerpc or have been replaced by newer versions that dont run on powerpc the last version of linux to run on g4 from ubuntu is 9.04 LTS
and where currently on 12 LTS so 9 is worthless now
i wish someone would just figure out how to reflash the computer to be used as a terminal because if you could get a terminal firmware on the machine you could boot lots of os's
BEOS
OS2
Windows nt 4.0 workstation and server
And many more |
