Hi Guys,
Just a quick one... can you view recorded shows from EyeTV using Plex.
Ive always just used everything with the mouse etc on my mac mini... its getting tedious, so im thinking about installing Plex (never even considered it before) so i can use my harmony remote more....
im hoping that using Plex i can access my movies folder containing AVI and MP4 files and recorded TV shows from EyeTV....
Is this possible?
Thanks |

It's easy to set up. Tell Plex which folder to point to.
Save your files into that folder. Plex will attempt to get box art and info.
I'm not sure how well plex will do with pre recorded TV show as far as art work goes, but you'll still see the video in the menu. It has all sorts of sorting options.
You won't be able to use your guide etc, unless there are plug in that I'm not aware of.
I suggest you try it. You have nothing to lose.
BTW you can also use the Apple remote $19. |

Thanks Mate...
I had a play around with it last night.
When i pointed it to the directory it only found 6 tv shows... any idea why that would be the case? I tried a few of the settings within tv shows, but none of the options let me see all of the recordings. any ideas?
Also another quirk i found is when i point it to the folder with my AVI and MP4 files in it, it finds different media for tv shows and movies. I assumed its trying to actually categorise what is a movie and what is a tv show from the titles, but its not doing it very well. |

I was afraid that it might do a poor job of automatically categorizing content from the iTV.
The meta data from the eyeTV recording is stored in the .eyetvr file
Im not familiar with how to edit these files or ensure Plex is pointing to this file. Perhaps someone else on this forum, a Plex or eyeTV forum can assist.
You may also want to play around with some of the search features in Plex, ie view unwatched content, last created etc. |

| just had a thought... maybe i can export the recordings after they record. that way they will be in a more Plex friendly format in a common location. |
