Do you have any other devices that CAN connect to your WiFi?

Do you have a network cable (RJ45 to RJ45) that you can (temporarily) put between your mini and your router to connect? (Pretty cheap, from here in UK.)

i am using my laptop downstairs where the router is connected to my Sky hd box and my Mac Mini is upstairs,i really think the problem is that before i did a re-install i wanted to go to safe mode and i found a sudo command on the net which i did, after re-install it only boots in safe mode,do you know of a way to boot normally please as i have tried a few sudo commands i have seen on the net but i maybe typed them wrong as it still boots in safe mode?
thank you i really am desperate to get the machine connected to the internet as this is the wifes computer and she does not like me messing about with it.
