Apple has released the OS X Lion 10.7.4 Update via their Software Update Utility and website for direct download. According to the company, this update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac including fixes that:
- Resolve an issue in which the "Reopen windows when logging back in" setting is always enabled.
- Improve compatibility with certain British third-party USB keyboards.
- Addresses permission issues that may be caused if you use the Get Info inspector function "Apply to enclosed items…" on your home directory.
- Improve Internet sharing of PPPoE connections.
- Improve using a proxy auto-configuration (PAC) file.
- Address an issue that may prevent files from being saved to an SMB server.
- Improve printing to an SMB print queue.
- Improve performance when connecting to a WebDAV server.
- Enable automatic login for NIS accounts.
- Include RAW image compatibility for additional digital cameras.
- Improve the reliability of binding and logging into Active Directory accounts.
The OS X Lion 10.7.4 Update weighs in at 692.68MB and requires OS X Lion 10.7.3. Apple also released a Combo update for users looking to update from earlier versions of Lion.

I bet somewhere Cypher and JB are smiling with the better support UK boards.
No problems here with the update. I wonder if it will be the last one released before Mountain Lion? Our 10.6.8 type finale. |

| I'm glad they finally fixed the reopen windows feature. It's been driving me crazy since the beginning. |

I upgraded two minis and an iMac this morning without incident. For those running Snow Leopard, a security update for it was issued. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

| It doesn't sound like there have been as many issues as the last update (10.7.3), but I'm still going to wait a couple days. These updates have really become less automatic to me. I would probably be more inclined to update if I were using Filevault though. |

I bet there will be at least one more update before ML is released. |

| Is Safari 5.1.7 included in Lion 10.7.4? I don't see it showing up in SU as a standalone update. |

Shucks. I was hoping you could update Safari without going to 10.7.4. Thanks for the reply though. |

I just checked Apple's website where Safari 5.1.7 is available for download. Unfortunately, it states there that it requires Lion 10.7.4 or Snow Leopard 10.6.8 plus Security Update 2012-002. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

I can confirm I'm running Safari 5.1.7 (but I do have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 plus Security Update 2012-002). _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |

It's also strange because the 10.7.4 update actually comes with Safari 5.1.6. I went ahead and updated everything though. It just doesn't seem like this is a good time to let security-based updates slide on by. _________________ 2011 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM
