Wireless Antenna for the Mac mini

QuickerTek has introduced a new Wireless Networking Antenna designed for the Mac mini. QuickerTek claims the new antenna can up to triple the wireless networking range of the Mac Mini with its 5.5 dbi of omni-directional RF power. The antenna is styled to match the Mac mini and requires no case modifications to work. A three-foot coax cable is included in the kit for mounting. The Mac Mini Antenna is available now for US$80.


QuickerTek - "QuickerTek has further extended their line of wireless Macintosh products by announcing a new omni-directional antenna for the entire Mac Mini line. The new Mac Mini Antenna offers 5.5dBi of RF power, which means that wireless networking distances can be as much a three times further than when using the stock antenna. The suggested retail price is $80.

A three-foot coax cable comes with the antenna for easy mounting. It works with Mac OS 9, up to and including Mac OS X "tiger". The Mini Antenna is equally at home in Airport and Airport Extreme networks. This new design does not alter the case in any way and is styled to match the Mac Mini case.

Looks lame and overpriced, and I'm assuming it requires one to open their case. $80 is what the airport express upgrade costs, for that price you could get something like a WET11 (wireless bridge) and connect it via the ethernet port on the mini.

On the brightside it looks like it doesn't take up that much space..on the downside it looks like a paper towel holder! I wonder how it hooks up?

This has me intrigued! I just wonder how it is connected to the Mini? Do you connect it thru the USB or Firewire or what? Is this just an extention ot the AirPort Extreme? I would love to see a review sometime soon:!:
