|
|
In the old days is was easy: the startup volume was always positioned at the upper right corner of the desktop.
I have now Snow Leopard and even re-booting from an external drive does not change the position of the volume's icons.
Selecting a volume and going to System Preferences > Startup Disk does not help because in some cases it gives a wrong answer. For example I bought a Western Digital external drive which will not boot my Mac via a Firewire cable Yet SysPrefs gave me the option of re-starting from it.(It couldn't). Western said that the FireWire cable must be faulty.
The only sure way I found to pinpoint the startup volume is to press CMD E to eject it. If it cannot be ejected.that's the proof.
However I wish there were a simpler way to find out because ejecting a volume is tedious (to reconnect) Any suggestion? |
