Video issues with mac mini

Ok, so I just picked up a mini and have 1 small issue. The HDMI video. I have another Mac that was hooked up to this same HDTV. Works perfect. Hooked the mini up, and I get black bars to the left/right and top/bottom of the screen. It is weird. At first, the image was cropped. It looks like if the image WASN'T cropped, it would fit perfectly on the full screen. I adjusted the underscan on the display to get rid of the cropping, but still have the black bars. Again, this is the same HDTV that works fine with a Mac system also running 10.7.2. Running same resolutins on both systems. Any ideas of what to try?

You say : "Running same resolutions on both systems" - exactly what resolution?

Also, what is the native pixel resolution of the HDTV you're using - probably written in its Technical Specs somewhere?

1360x768 on both systems. i will have to look up the native resolution when i get in...

i notice this has a very little black bar at the top that i never noticed before, but no where near the amount as the mini...

ps: no clue why the images are upside down... wtf....

Go into screen settings and move the bar for overscanning.

i have done that. it adjust the amount of the image shown (i.e., it will make it so the entire image fits into that smaller area) but will not make the image fit my screen any differently.

Then you'll need to adjust the settings on your monitor. One of my monitors has an "Auto" button that resizes the image to fit the screen. But on my other monitor I have to go into settings and monkey with expanding the screen vertically and horizontally. I've done this successfully both on my Mac Mini and on Windows PCs.

But that makes no sense to me. The same monitor works on the other system just fine with the exact same resolution. Wouldn't this issue be present on both systems if it was the monitor?

No, not necessarily. I've been working with computers since my first purchase in 1990....a Gateway 486SX16. I've been surprised so many times I can't keep count. Try your monitor settings.

could be a difference in the graphics card in the machine which card is in each machine...
