|
|
Hi All,
I have a new mini mac server edition and have installed Plex media Server on it to watch movies, I have noticed that the speech is 'out of synch'.
Can anyone assist in this, or suggest a better player to play my movies from the mini mac, via HDMI to tv??
Kind Regards

I use Plex for my media and don't have the sync problem you mention. Is it doing it on every movie ?
what format are your movies in ? _________________ Phil

And have what have been the responses from the Plex support forum?
Bandit, if he has the new MM Server, only one processor w/minimum 4 GB RAM which is more than enough for anything that can currently be thrown at Plex. _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint

I missed that. It certainly is not the issue. |

I have noticed that depending on the ripper I use, Mac DVDRipper Pro/Ripit, that if I compress or have it rip for iTunes, that the sync through Plex is always off.
Try watching it through iTunes and see if it still won't sync |

I hope to offer a little assistance to a thread that has probably died out. But...maybe someone will run across this and it'll help them out. For me there is an option to adjust the audio delay. I'm not sure of the technical reasoning but I think it has to do with how fast the audio is faster than the movie. I think this is because of the HDMI setup.
Take a look at this screen capture:

I hope it helps. |

It really has nothing to do with HDMI. Some files had audio sync issues. Plex had an audio sync issue with SD content made with MakeMKV for several versions(nearly six months) until Elan finally did something about it.
Plex has always had that audio sync adjustment.

Another option is mkvtoolnix
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/16837/mkvtoolnix
This allows adjustment of the audio delay in the mkv container headers.
This works with XBMC and Plex
The best way is to break the video down to the elementary stream and edit the headers for the audio stream, it is more complex. |

Are you sure it isn't the rip? _________________ - Hack-a-Mac Mini Intel 2.6 GHz i7, 16GB

As SC mentioned in his post, many had an issue within Plex depending on file or wrapper. Fixed several months ago.
Guessing that since the OP opened this thread over a year ago and didn't report back that all is good. _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint
