looking to build a windows htpc/gamer

yeah i know but I have been running vm fusion and have actually gotten to prefer windows 7 over lion. I want to use a htpc case like this

I have not built a pc from the ground up. any one that can offer advice please do.

I want a mobo that will handle a i7 2600k or an i7 3770k when it comes out.

I would hold off until the LGA-2011 set up becomes a bit more common, and prices come down on mobos and CPUs.

I would definitely check on the reviews of HTPC cases. Some are not well designed, and can be a real pain to put together.

yeah I have been reading up on this and I have grabbed.

An oem copy of windows 7 premium.

A blu ray drive and 14 sticks of ram. I know I won't need the 14 sticks of ram but the price was really good so a grabbed all the seller had.

this cpu looks like it would put me ahead of the curve

Yeah, the Ivy Bridge i7 chips are awesome. I've actually been thinking about building a new PC with one inside. You certainly can't go wrong with a Lian Li case either. That being said, I think Moneual is where I'd be heading on that side of things. Their 932 and 972 cases just make me drool.
