First post here!
How can one run the AHT on a 2011 Mac mini or MacBook Pro without a Lion disk? Thanks in advance! |

Thanks for the reply!
Holding down the D key during startup doesn't seem to work for me. Does that mean there could be something wrong? |

There have been issues with mini's not recognizing keys with odd keyboards but should work with a laptop. Make sure you hold it down before hitting the power button and don't let it go.
If not then make a trip to the genius bar to see what they do. |

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about it picking up the signal from my wireless keyboard. That being said, I can't even get it working with my MacBook Pro. The screen just sits there with the white background. If I left go of the key, it then goes to the desktop. I'll try holding down the key while pressing the power button when I get home from work. Perhaps that will make a difference. I may have been pressing it down after pressing the power button down. If not, it looks like I'll be driving 2 hours to the Apple Store. |

If you're able to boot the Mac normally make sure also that you've installed all the available EFI etc. updates available via Software Update. _________________ Laptop - 2007 Macbook 2.16Ghz, 2GB RAM 500GB 7200RPM HDD

| I still haven't had a chance to visit the Apple Store, but the system is all up to day with everything in Software Update. I also tried pressing the D key at the same time without any luck. I'm actually wondering now if this could be some sort of networking issue? It has to go out on the internet now for the AHT, right? I mean, since these systems came pre-loaded with Lion. |

Booting with D will show a spinning earth as it downloads. I just tried it with my wireless keyboard and was surprised that it worked. The way I did it was to select restart and held the D from that point on.
I think you get an error or it asks for wireless security if the network isn't working. |
