I'm currently using Transmission. It's OK, but when you want to end a download, or pause it, it can "stall out".

Is U Torrent any better?

I haven't tried any others. I'm interested to hear opinions as to why anything else is better than Transmission likely any of the issues you are having will be resolved through future updates.

With my main computer(the G4 mini) I prefer Vuze. I like it because of all the information, and features that it has. It can be a bit of a dog though, and sometimes takes a bit to think about things. I think this has more to do with the CPU than the application itself.

On my other computers, I use uTorrent. It's nice and light weight, and on those computers I have them running long enough to really merit the use of a full featured client.

I used Transmission years ago. It had a bad habit of double reporting what you downloaded. Needless to say that can cause quite a bit of trouble at some trackers.

I use Transmission also and haven't had those issues. Of course I use it on Linux the most. I also use Vuze lately and it does seems pretty good, maybe bloated but works good.

UTorrent for me.

Transmission a while back kept getting blacklisted by certain trackers. Seems like it was getting blacked listed every other release.
Been on uTorrent for a while now never had a problem.

I use micro (u, mu, μ) Torrent on my MBP for both OS X and Win 7 as well as Win 7 on my desktop, it works quite well and is very simplified, for Linux I use Transmission, then again I rarely torrent in Linux, even less since college as ALL external network P2P is heavily restricted on my University's connection, granted the internal P2P is completely ignored by IT on the informal agreement people keep its use to a minimum form 8-5.

I know that many people like to speak badly of Vuze, but I find that it works very well and the built in media server software is awesome. The fact that it has drag and drop encoding for all iOS devices is really nice. Before you knock it you should try it.

Let me explain the up's and downs.

Vuze has great user options and is easy to set up.

it's downfall however doesn't protect your downloads so while your downloading from vuze your isp can see everything you do while using vuze.

I recommend utorrent and even frostwire for torrents vuze has a high tendency to block torrents from many torrent carriers so not really helpful if you use it a lot
