I couldn't sleep tonight so I took a little drive.

First stop was the grocery store to pick up some flowers.

Then took a drive to 1 Infinite Loop and left some flowers there. There were many people there who did the same, as well as lots of media. The flags were at half-staff.

That's an awesome tribute. Wish I could have been there and done the same.

This morning still seems surreal. It just feels like there's been a death in the family or something.

My condolences to Steve's family, friends and co-workers.

Steve helped to push our technology beyond what most people thought was possible within a mere decade. Let's not forget his vision and continue pushing forward for the next ten years and beyond.

It's a shame to see someone pass away at the peak of their career and life. What this guy did for Apple over the last ten years was incredible. And he did it while being a really ill guy for most of those years. It's just heartbreaking, there are no words. Sad

I'm pretty sad about this and just how sad took me by surprise initially.

where I am with it is this:

Jobs was the real deal. Yeah, he had an ego, and a temper but who doesn't, really, especially among people who lead companies or countries.

You think a shrinking violet would have any chance of leading a company that does what Apple does?

So, with Steve, he talked about excellence and he delivered. Unlike so many other entities which merely do the talking part.

But also, AS I use Macs and Apple software, there's simply an undeniable care and careing that shines through..the thoughtfulness about what a user might need. And elegance that says "we respect you, we resonate with you and we want to help make your work and creating experience as good as it can be."

And that came from Steve. Clearly he imbued others with those values whom will carry on the vision.

One more thing...

I watched the Standford graduation address last night..was goosebumpy as I listened..And I think that we can take comfort when we think about Steve is that he REALLY lived his life while he was alive.

He wasn't phonin' it in..wasn't coasting...wasn't on auto-pilot.

Good lesson for us all, just another in the many lessons he taught us.

I always secretly fantasized about meeting Steve..you know, the geek in me, wanting to hang out and have a beer and talk Macs and things, but in using the Apple products, I feel like I have the embodiment of anything he might have said about it.

Cheers, friends!

Me too. It almost came off as a motivational speech and/or meeting in my mind as well. A religious experience on the level of meeting the Pope or Dalai Lama. A meeting that would inspire my journeys forward. The kind of inspiration you would get after meeting a childhood hero.

Sad today, I feel like he was just getting started.

So long Steve Jobs, he followed his dreams, a gift for us all.

Yeah, thanks for sharing the pics. I assume you took them, right?

The poster from their neighbor in the last picture is really touching. It must have been a real emotional scene out there.

Here are a few pages of photos of Steve/Apple related stuff--many of which I hadn't seen before (be sure to go back a couple of pages): http://blog.grantrobertson.com/?page=1

The grounds and fence going around his house look really pretty. Oh well, I'm still bummed out about his passing. I wonder if there is going to be a memorial service soon?

I'm still bummed out too. I was wondering the same thing [about a service]. Maybe the family will make an announcement soon....
