Eventually am going to get another mini and use my current one as an htpc. BUT for now have been trying other options. Tried a jailbroke 1st gen appletv. Hooked a USB External HD to it. Lots of stutters and lags. Can't handle HD video playback. OK saw an old bandit bill post about media link for PS3. Works fine but for the fact of ff and rr. Nothing faster than 1.5X works. emailed them from there website 6 days ago. No answer. Anyone have any experience with this product?

i can give you one better and it's free from the developers site.
it's a app from the little app factory called rivet it streams all content to devices that support streaming servers and it's free 100% no trial garbage no license just search google for rivet for mac.
thats all you need try it it streams video and music direct from iTunes |

But does it only play itunes compatible media? Hand braking everything is a pain.

They discontinued it. I think the download is still there.
