I have to agree with you about the design. Couldn't they make it more compact? What a waste of space. I am sure we will see many more like it.

The idea of the design is to put it inside the base of an iMac or Cinema Display. This gives you easy access to the ports.

Ugly yes.

I'd rather see on that is designed to have the iMac or ACD or mini placed on top.
