That price is off the charts. Much better to get an SSD. That way if you do page outs with 8 gigs of RAM, the page outs are instant. At least that's the way it works on my wife's Air. _________________ mini #1: 1.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HD

Wow, that is insanely expensive. I doubt you will see many takers from the mac mini community; although, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the macbook pro guys forking over the cash. It should come down quickly don't you think? _________________ Proud Cube owner. Oh, I also own a 2011 2.7ghz i7 Mac Mini. |

Hmm. OWC is now $919 for two sticks. Down from $1399
See what happens when you wait a month? Maybe $500 by Christmas? |

Too true! From $1400 bucks to $800 bucks so quickly is quite impressive for a price drop. How low do you think this will go? From the price of the 8gb kits it seems like we can see it in the $200-$300 dollar range for a full 16gb kit very soon. _________________ Proud Cube owner. Oh, I also own a 2011 2.7ghz i7 Mac Mini. |

Seeing as you can get name brand good RAM (2x4GB) 8GB total for $35-$55 I'm going to actually have to be in a real need for 16GB to pay $200-$300.
Someone else needs to make a 8GB sticks so OWC can have some competition to drive the prices down.
If I don't hit the actual usage need for over 8GB of RAM though it will need to be no more than $200 after tax/ship for me to purchase. If they end up with competition I would like to see listed prices before tax/shipping at around $150 to buy.
I imagine their sticks will fly out of their stock much faster if they get closer to the $200-$300 range. Where I can't imagine the sticks are selling too hot at around $1k. Wonder how much it actually cost them to make these 8GB sticks that they're charging so much for. _________________ 2011 Mini Server (5,3)- 2.0Ghz i7 Quad-core; 8GB RAM; 2x750GB 7200rpm |

so far 750 for 16gb is the best I can get.
here is the kicker the base mini and the server have the intel graphics If you go to 8gb ram the graphics improve as more is used for graphics pulled from the 8gb vs the 2gb of the base mini or pulled from the 8gb vs 4gb on the server. so if you drop the 16gb does the graphics use even more ot the ram say 512mB or more. if so a base mini with 16gb ram or a server with 16gb ram may have better graphics then the discrete gpu minis do. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

Thats what i want to know Is how much memory the intel integrated graphics card will have with 16gb of ram. I have the server version and with 4gb of ram it had 256mb of graphic mem, and with 8gb of ram is now has 512mb. Will it follow the current pattern and then have 1024mb of graphic memory then?
Also I saw that crucial has a 16 gb kit that they are offering for 799.99. so hopefully this competition will drive down the prices. |

my question is does the 2011 mini actually support 16gb of ram?
i have a dual core i7 mini, i stuffed 2 ssd's in it. im running dual 24" monitors and with "launch control" im quite happy, i can go from a bootcamp vm of windows 7 back to osx by swiping my mouse.
i really would benifit from 16gb of ram then i could give osx and my win 7 vm each 8gb, and id be ok. i do hit the 4gb limit from time to time on now.
one think i looked at was ark.intel.com and it looks like the processor only supports 8gb of memory. so im wondering does anyone have 16 on a dual core now? |

your i7
from intel web site:
Memory Specifications
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 8 GB
Memory Types DDR3-1066/1333
# of Memory Channels 2
Max Memory Bandwidth 21.3 GB/s
ECC Memory Supported NO
the 8gb is stick size max ram is bandwidth which is 21.3gb a pair of 8gb sticks would be 16gb. tell you what I have a i5 2.5ghz on order I will drop the sticks in that to see if they work.
by the way here are ram for the i7 quad
Memory Specifications
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 8 GB
Memory Types DDR3-1066/1333
# of Memory Channels 2
Max Memory Bandwidth 21.3 GB/s
same specs and as tested by me with samsung sticks these work fine.

Hp sells 16 gb ram option of 2 8gb sticks for the i7 dual the i5 dual and the i3 dual

I just went with 8GB in my 2011 server. I didn't feel like 16GB was worth the investment. I thought the money would be better used towards SSD's. Now, I'm like one pay check from being there.
OWC does have some benchmarks with 16GB if you are interested though. It is fully supported.
