Apple Releases Final Cut Pro X
Tuesday, June 21, 2011
Posted by: Glenn
Apple today announced the availability of Final Cut Pro X, a new version of their popular professional video editing software. According to the company, Final Cut Pro X is built on a modern 64-bit architecture and offers features such as Magnetic Timeline that lets you edit on a flexible, trackless canvas; Content Auto-Analysis that categorizes your content upon import by shot type, media and people; and background rendering that allows you to work without interruption. It's available starting today on the Mac App Store for $299.99.
"Final Cut Pro X is the biggest advance in Pro video editing since the original Final Cut Pro," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "We have shown it to many of the world's best Pro editors, and their jaws have dropped."
Final Cut Pro X also includes powerful tools for audio editing and color correction, and is complemented by two companion apps, Motion 5 for professional motion graphics and Compressor 4 for advanced media encoding, available from the Mac App Store for $49.99 each.

Yeah, it's almost at a price that I would even consider buying from the standpoint as an amateur. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

All this great video editing stuff for movie makers and tools for encoding and yet not a single Mac will playback Blu-ray. How can they check their work? Something needs to give here Steve, really.

This reminds me of the shakeup with iMovie a couple years ago. You either hated or loved the new version. So far I'm hating FCP X. I do see a lot of promise though. And in a couple years when all the bugs are worked out, no one will be complaining. _________________ 2011 Mac mini with 8GB of RAM

This is to be expected with a brand new program. Add all of these issues up and it seems like the world has ended. However in most cases, most of these issues won't effect most people.
Why work on a mission critical project, with a .0 version of a piece of software that was "rewritten from the ground up". You're asking for problems.
I'm sure there will be an update released with a few weeks that addresses a majority of the "serious" issues. |
