| I just got a Drobo and have successfully migrated about 3 TB of data over to the Drobo. My question has to do with those who are using MakeMKV and a Drobo/Mini setup. When you are ripping a movie using MakeMkV, are you guys ripping the mkv file straight to the Drobo, or are you first ripping it to the harddrive on the mini, then transferring the file over.........I know it sounds stupid, but I'm trying to eliminate a step if I can.......wasn't sure how this works when using the Drobo and the Mini with Make MKV. |

I don't have a Drobo, but I've never ripped to my internal drive with the mini. Always to the externals.

| yeah, I just dumped all my externals, and with them, I could rip directly to the drive.......guess my concern is how the Drobo handles that transfer since the data is spread across the drives........shouldn't make much difference, just wondering what was the common practice. |

I don't think it matters really. That's all up to the Drobo to handle the data. It should just do it.
Have you tried it?

just as soon as the drobo relays all the data around, just added another 2tb drive....just waiting. Last time i was in the process of transferring a file over...the drobo chewed up and smoked a brand new green caviar drive....just wanted to make sure there was in no way any harm that can be done while relaying is being performed that activities such as a file transfer would endanger the health of the robot.  |

| of course! Maybe i got unlucky with a drive. Amazon is good about letting u return stuff...i got the replacement in 2 days |
