How come this never happens to me?
From KVAL.com
TRI-CITY, Ore. - Carol Green saw a newspaper ad for netbook computers for less than $100 - a perfect gift, she thought, for her 8-year-old granddaughter.
"All they had was a reconditioned one, and they told me that, and I said that was fine," Green said, "and when I got it home, it wasn't what I expected: it was filled with porn."
Over a hundred images and videos were loaded onto the computer, including one that discussed sex with people under 18. The Greens found the materials when Carol's husband Dave Green decided to load some parental controls on the device.
"I mean, I'm an adult, but it was still kind of shocking to me you know new - well, not new, but from the store," he said.
Store officials would not answer any questions from KPIC News on camera.
"Kmart has offered a new machine to the customer," wrote Kimberly Freely, spokesperson for Sears Holdings Corporation. "We believe that this product was purchased previously and should not have been resold per our store policies. We have asked the customer to return the product so we can engage the proper authorities and the matter can be fully investigated."
Dave Green said the thing that bothers him the most is the lack of concern the corporate office had when he talked with them.
"Basically giving me the cold shoulder, acting like, oh well, things happen," he said.
The Greens said they are thankful they decided to look over the machine before shipping it to their granddaughter. |
