I already did it the hard way. Moved it to a xfat hard drive from windows laptop. copied to mini then converted back to i-tunes. Would have been a lot easier to just move it from ipod. Stuff like that is what can be irritating about Apple. But the irritation is overwhelmed by all the buggy windows crap. _________________ 2010 mac mini upgraded to 2.66mghz. Very First Mac Computer

I needed to move over 2000 songs. kind of ridiciculous that you have to use a third party app to move data between 2 Apple products that are designed to sync together. Even more ridiculous that I need to pay 20 plus dollars to move MY stuff. Or that I was forced to resort to a third piece of hardware to facilitate the data transfer between two pieces of equipment designed to work together. Seems shortsighted on Apples part. I owned an ipod touch first. Now I am going totally Apple from my router to my computer to an Apple TV. Then to find out I can't EASILY move my itunes collection from my touch to my mac. I thought Apples whole raison d'etre was ease of use, ie "it just works". _________________ 2010 mac mini upgraded to 2.66mghz. Very First Mac Computer

When I did mine I just networked the two computers and dragged from one to the other.
With Home Sharing it should now be even easier.
If you can network the two computers try setting up home sharing on your Windows iTunes (can you do that on windows?) and then start the Mac iTunes. It should see the other library and allow you to Import the songs. _________________ Phil

Did not occur to me to try that. Did not think itunes on window machine would "Play " with itunes on new mac. I still dont see why I cant just copy from ipod touch to mac. II mean you copy to the mac, why can't you do it in reverse? _________________ 2010 mac mini upgraded to 2.66mghz. Very First Mac Computer

This is something that Apple is quite aware of. They restrict you from doing this on purpose... the reason being so you don't take your iPod over to your friends place and give them your entire iPod library.
You need 3rd party apps to allow you to do this. It's Apple's way of keeping the recording industry happy and putting their music on the iTunes store.
We may not like it... but it's just the way it is. It's been this way for many years. |

Ahhh that makes sense on a money making level. But aren't the old ipod classics able to act as portable drives? _________________ 2010 mac mini upgraded to 2.66mghz. Very First Mac Computer
