WWDC 2011 Set for June 6th-10th

Apple today announced that it will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 6th-10th at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco. According to the company, at this year's five-day conference they will be unveiling the future of iOS and Mac OS. This includes demonstrations of the new kinds of apps that developers can build using Apple's advanced frameworks. There will also be more than 100 technical sessions presented by over 1000 Apple engineers.
"At this year's conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss."
Developers are encouraged to visit the Worldwide Developers Conference 2011 website for more information and to purchase tickets.

| At this point, I think all I care about is iPad 2 supporting Flash - I'm really tired of my Android tablet buddies always using that in arguments of which device is better. |

Funny, I never *ever* lack flash on my iPad. On the contrary, I think it is awesome that it is not available. I also block flash on my desktops anyway. |

Can you explain what Flash content you need to see? Are you visiting websites on Archive.org from the 90's or something? It would make sense that android users are finding Flash sites to view... they refuse to get with the times. I'm confused as to what Flash based sites exist today with compelling content.

| Almost every major television network in the United States requires flash to view full episodes. Flash would be great to watch more shows for free on the ipad. |

True, but less of that programming is being offered for free. To be honest, the Netflix and Hulu Plus apps are about all you need. Then you have a couple apps for sports (NCAA tourney app has been awesome) and the awesome ABC app. So, all in all, I really don't miss Flash that much. |

I personally don't miss the lack of Flash at all since apps handle most of my needs, I was just stating that I'm tired of the Android crowd always using the lack of Flash support as a strike against the iPad.
...but these are the sites, or examples of sites, I would like to access from time to time:
cnet.com (SOME content still requires Flash)
sonystyle.com (and other Sony owned sites)
NikeID
Mercedes AMG (or most car sites)
Investment sites (some metrics don't work)
The lack of Silverlight isn't cool either - but Honeycomb tablets don't support that either.
Small businesses that buy a site template from Template Monster, or other such places, can forget about their site running well on an iPad.
Being in the IT world, I do agree that Flash is not the best thing out there; however, the sad reality is that there's still Flash developers out there that refuse to learn anything new (or don't have the time); therefore, they'll continue developing in Flash. The company and developers where I work have taken a stance to no longer develop in Flash, and have begun implementing Silverlight (because of SharePoint) and HTML 5. |

Well, if the content providers don't want to provide me with content that I'll happy pay for.. Then I'll just torrent it. Their loss, not mine.
I hate flash with a passion. |
