According to USA Today the generation you belong to isn't just about the year of your birth, but about your cultural experiences. The staff there put together a short and engaging online quiz, sifting through recollections about news stories, fashion fads, music and more. This would apply more to the USA then other countries.

It did guess my exact birth year!

Mine was off three years early. A problem for me is that I've never followed sports(and one sports image didn't load), or fashion. Another problem was picking which major event to remember.

Interesting though.

I was born in 57 they came up with 62.

MY PROBLEMS with it was a gap in tv shows for high school. laugh -in then oprah . no shows for the 71 to 75 time line. The second one was what news story did I remember. I remember The Kennedy assassination like yesterday. My choice was Hoover in the FBI a 50's story or the man on the moon 1969. Making those picks of oprah and the men on the moon. Made me 5 years younger.

philiparcario, I was born in 1955, so for me the first major event was Watergate, I think the question said during high school and TV shows, so I went with laugh-In, I think it ended in the early '70s.

I didn't know many of the US sports stars, I recognise some of the names but no idea from which era they were. Similarly with the US fashions and news stories.

The first toys I really remember as a kid where Action Men (so I went with GI Joe) and Meccano construction sets, Atari or earliervideo games console or maybe Rubiks cubes would have been the main toy when I was a little older.

Film choice was somewhere between The Exorcist and Rocky but I may remember these from later when VHS video's came out rather than cinema hits as these could have been our early film rentals. The real big films for my era would have been Star Wars and Grease but neither was listed.

First go it picked 1962, second was 1969 (Actual 1967) so it wasn't too far out even for a Brit
