Hi,
Just tried logging into the guest account in my mini and found that safari refuses to open all secured website (https://). So this means guest users won't be able to log in their personal sites through the guest account. I checked the security setting in safari preference and found nothing to resolve this. Just couldn't figure out why is this happening? and how to solve the problem? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. |

I think most people avoid the Guest account like the plague.
You could create an account for your guests to use. As in an account for Person A, an account for Person B, and so for and so on. Then just archive the account when the person is no longer there. I'm not sure how you would re-instate the account later though.

How so? Is the "Guest account" a crippled one which all guests freed from? Why Apple would setup this in the OS?

I kind of remember this solution has been brought out before, but the trouble is that once you have more than "admin" and "guest" accounts, every time you have to type user name AND pw, instead of only pw, to authorize permit for install etc. when working in your admin account. This issue has stopped me from creating any other account in my machine. Does anyone know how to make safari in the "Guest account" let people freely browse and log-in all sites as they like? |

Maybe Apple has removed it, but isn't there an option to have a list of accounts and then you click on the desired account, and log in from there option?
I would have to dig back through the archives to dig up stuff about the perils of the Guest account, but it wouldn't be the first time that Apple did something that went against better options. I can't say that I agree with many things that Apple does these days, so I really can't say why. The only thing I can do is speculate that Steve Jobs thought it would be a good thing, and therefore it was implemented without question.

SC and everyone,
Sorry again, my fault. I have somehow activated the "parental control" in Guest account that makes Safari stop opening all secured sites (e.g., log-in pages). After unchecking it, safari flies fast and freely for all my guests! |
