Does anyone know of what states do and what states don;t currently charge sales tax on iTunes purchases? _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Any state that has sales tax and has an Apple retail store will result in a sales tax charge on an iTunes purchase. Or should...

Is this by law?
There is no physical product so taxation is not necessarily straight forward, IL enacted a law requiring tax be paid on ALL products brought into the state be reported on yearly taxes, it's been the law for years and years yet only recently has the state cared to collect it and ignored the tax initially.
The idea that governments like the state of IL needing money is hard to believe, they NEED better management, not more money to compensate, they've been ignoring places outside of Chicago and North Eastern St. Clair county more and more and now the rest of the state has gotten aggressive and is trying to block Chicago politicians more and more. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Every state needs better management. That still doesn't have any bearing on tax collection. If there is a retail store in a state, and that state has sales tax, you are gonna have to pay a sales tax in iTunes.
You are still purchasing something. Physical or not, you are making a purchase. Sales tax is for purchases. Apple has to pay the tax to the states or face issues from the state governments.
