Has anybody successfully synchronized their bookmarks across several computers?
I have Leopard, Ubuntu 10.04, and Vista. I want to have the same bookmarks on all of the computers. Since Safari can't do it I decided to go with Chrome because it is the only browser that seems to work properly on all three OSs.
First I loaded Chrome on Ubuntu. I had only about three bookmarks on it. Next I loaded it on the Leopard machine. There was an option to load bookmarks from another browser. I selected Safari and the bookmarks did transfer.
Next I signed in to a Google account to begin the synchronization. I then used Ubuntu and also signed in to the Google account. I selected the sync button and got the message that the sync was successful. It wasn't successful. All folders were copied but none of the links within the folders were transferred. That means I have many folders with nothing in them.
I opened Vista and downloaded Chrome and did the sync. The results were the same. Individual links were shown but all of the folders were empty.
In Ubuntu I tried turning off sync, closing Chrome, opening Chrome and then selecting sync. It did say that the sync was successful but the results were the same.
Has anybody successfully synchronized bookmarks using any browser across these three platforms? I really want this to work.
My next step for synchronizing files will be with Dropbox. I know that platform works for others so I shouldn't have any problems with it.
I need some advice on how to make this work. Everybody chime in so I can get this working soon. Thank you.
