I'll probably be working 1st shift for about a quarter (3 months) and then transition to the 3rd shift once I am up to speed on everything. Should be quite interesting to say the least.
I've always been able to adjust to differing sleep schedules and have always WANTED to work at night. Now we'll see how I handle getting my wish. _________________ -=iMav=-

FYI, an update for those that followed this thread.
I've been doing the 3rd shift for over a month now and absolutely LOVE IT! I have never been so rested in my adult life. I get off at 8am and sleep until I am fully rested. I average only around 34 hrs per week, so the extra time with the family is really great.
No regrets so far. _________________ -=iMav=-

It has been a long while since I worked Midnight to 8 -- but I do remember laughing at all the 9 o'clockers stuck in traffic (on the other side of the highways) on my way home in the mornings.
How goes the sleep schedule with the kids and the Mrs? _________________ iMac 20" Intel Duo Core, 2G RAM, 250G HDD

It goes well. We have a pretty big house, so she just keeps the kids away from me when I'm sleeping.
The best decision I made right off the bat was that I would sleep right after work. That allows me to sleep as long as I need to (heck, I no longer need an alarm clock!). I did not expect to be SO rested. I don't think I ever want to go back to working days... _________________ -=iMav=-
