Steve Jobs Takes Second Medical Leave

Apple issued a media advisory this morning stating that Steve Jobs is in the process of taking his second medical leave from the company. According to the company, Steve sent out the following email to all Apple employees describing the situation:

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day-to-day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.

It's a good thing he only gets a $1/yr. salary. This guy sure books off sick a lot. I'm joking of course

I'm glad Steve is setting his health as a priority over running the business. It's quite apparent that he rushed back to his position before a full recovery.

Hopefully he takes enough time off, to fully recover this time. There hasn't been any news of further complications, has there?

I hope Steve makes a swift recovery. It's a good sign that he remains the CEO, which hopefully means that he just needs some rest time.

I hope that whatever is wrong he gets better.

Even though I am annoyed at his 2010 macmini remake he has done a lot of good things for people computers and apple.

He remains CEO, all he is doing is handing over daily operations to Cook.

NRecob, according to that article Apple's stock has plummeted, but a simple check shows that is just BS. The rest is conjecture. Conjecture and BS are the sign of quality journalism.
