|
|
Hi,
I have a problem since changing my router - I have my mini along with a couple of desktops connected via ethernet ... I can connect to internet individually on each computer but in the finder window my Mac Mini icon shows up as a pc server and I cannot connect to it via clicking and cannot screen share any longer - I can connect to it via IP address though ...... I am sure there must be a network setting that I have neglected to change but cannot find it for the life of me! Any help would be very much appreciated!!! |

| Firewall is off .... i'm beginning to wonder if Belkins new router software isn't installed properly - as apparently it needs to be on each machine - I didn't have to do that with the last Belkin router ...... |

You shouldn't really need to install the software on any machine.
I recently got a new router from my ISP and it gave the impression you had to install the software before connecting to the router. I never bothered and just set it up manually. I think what they really meant was, "if you have no idea what your doing then install the software to sort it all out for you". _________________ Phil

| thats what I did originally - then contacted Belkin who said I must install their software on each machine - which I did - same problem though ... saying that the Mini is no longer showing up as a pc server icon .....! ..but still can't connect to it! |

| Well I reinstalled my previous router and everything works fine so it must be a problem getting access through the new router - unfortunately the old router only lasts a couple of hours before 'dying'. |
