|
|
Went to an otolaryngologist (ENT) today for a middle ear infection that doesn't seem to be clearing up as well as I'd like. After an exam and batter of hearing tests he says I'm OK but it's going to take a while for things to get back to normal.
In the meantime, he suggested I start doing nasal rinses using either a special squeeze bottle or a Neti Pot.
I was curious to know if anyone here uses such a device and if so if it helped relieve your sinus congestion/allergies.
Thanks! |

I am all about the neti pot. Go easy on the salt to water ratio. It seemed like a terrible idea at first, but man, what a difference. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

| I did this for the first time this morning and was amazed at the amount of....uuuhhhh...errr...CRAP that came out my nostrils and at least in one nostril got immediate relief and fair amount of relief in the other. |

| My wife's in to it. I've tried it, and I feel like I'm drowning. |

I've no need for it, but wife uses it and makes a huge difference for her. Since I've known her she's always had problems, part of why we opted to live in the desert part of Wash State vs. the Wet part of the state. _________________ iMac 24" 2.4 GHz 4GB | Logitech S530 | Z-2300 speakers | NewerTech Guardian MAXimus RAID

There sure is, much the same here in BC, once you get East of the coast mountain ranges it gets pretty hot and dry. |

Neti Pot day six: yeah, man! I haven't had sinuses this clear in decades!
but I'm not buying any more of those outrageously overpriced salt/bicarb packets anymore.
Went to the supermarket and picket up a 13 oz. can of pure Kosher Salt (no iodine, no anti-caking agents) for one dollar.
1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp (pinch) baking soda and 8 oz. of warm water. Perfect. |

I've tried it but didn't see what the big deal was about.
People talk about what comes out. All I saw was water.
It is an interesting sensation though. |

You must have failed math at school, Aug 26-29 does not make six days. |
