I've just found a company who make matte screen protectors for just about any glossy-screen Mac that you can think of...

Suddenly, those new iMacs look very enticing... Wink Smile

I may grab one. I don't mind the glare, but I have read the glass screen breaks pretty easy. For 40 bucks it is a decent idea.

if you view an install link I advise you to keep the plastic backer that gets removed to install it. if you ever need to reinstall the back would be helpful to have.

I have used this type of matte protector on my iPhone. It is VERY hard to not get a piece of lint in between the cover and device. I can't imagine doing this on a 15"-27" screen. Once they are on correctly, they look flawless and it is well worth it. But man...it is tough. Philip, let us know how this goes once you get it.

I have to agree with Tony. I've put these anti-reflective screen protectors on three PDAs. It is extremely difficult to get it on without some dust getting inside. You have to apply it very carefully and then repeatedly lift the film, using scotch tape to remove the dust particles. It generally takes me about an hour to apply it flawlessly to a small PDA screen. Doing this with a large screen isn't something I'd care to imagine doing.

If you don't mind dust then I'd say it's fine. If you do, then you better work in a professional clean room.

I did this with a 21 inch screen works fine but you need to really do a lot to get the dust in control. I turned off all venting ac in my home and cleaned my guest bathroom for 2 days. This really reduced dust to a minimum. My guest bathroom is window less uses venting only.. once you close the vents and place a wet towel by the door you can really lower the dust in the room. I am also more able to do this because my iMac is wall mounted this will make it easier to lie the iMac flat on a clean lint free sheet.
