In August 2007 I sold my 2005 1.42GHz Mac mini to a friend and I have missed it ever since. I currently have a 1.83GHz C2D. Anyhow, my buddy Fat Bill bought a MacBook Pro and he sold my brother the computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, iPod, Desk and Chair for $150.
My brother doesn't have any computer experience, so this machine is perfect for him. I know it's hard to believe in today's age. However, $150 has changed his life. Now he can take online courses, email the family, create an electronic resume and gain computer experience.
I know this stuff sounds crazy to most of us, but it should make you stop, think and appreciate what you have.
I'm glad my mini is back home and I'm especially glad that it's going to be put to full use.
BTW when I was setting it up, I thought I might be surprised in that it may feel slow after using a new machine, but honestly it's still a snappy little machine. It staggers a little bit with some youtube videos, but even with the video overall it's not bad. This is more of a broadband issue. |

Bandit, I understand! All my older Macs are so snappy & I am once again impressed all over again, when I'll turn one on after not using it for a period of time. That is why I keep them all, I guess. The personal experience I get from using a Mac (old or new), cannot be described. I love my Macs! And I definitely appreciate what I have. After only 4 years with my first Mac Mini & I've acquired a nice little collection. And I have never enjoyed using a computer more. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I just did the same thing, after getting rid of my last PPC Mini I starting missing them so I found a 1.25ghz Mini on Craigslist for $85.00 and just could not keep myself from buying it. It was the best thing I ever did, I sold my big fast Pee Cee running Windows 7 and replaced it with the G4, so now I have the Intel one in the house and the G4 in my shop. I found the same thing Bandit, the G4 seems almost as fast as the 1.83GHz in most things. I upgraded the ram to 1gb and the hard drive to a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 120gb drive and I just love it. Gee, I sound like a fanboy. _________________ Mac Mini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM 500GB HD

I'm glad to hear some other people feel the same way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any Mac mini, no matter what the age to somebody who wants to get their feet wet in the Mac world or has very limited funds.
I almost want to keep the thing myself but I know my brother needs a computer.
I even found Call of Duty in the CD drive |
