I found myself looking at linkin park's website this morning (LP front man "Mike Shinoda" has been working on a side project called "Fort Minor") upon entering the site it played a song from the Fort Minor CD called "Believe Me" -- I recognized the tune that played in the background, I could swear I had heard it before. -- I fired up Garageband and began going through the strings samples and sure enough. "Orchestra Strings O8" is the exact same sample that is in the song.
See for yourself.
Hear Fort Minor - "Believe Me" either by visiting http://www.linkinpark.com/site.php Or by finding it in iTunes.
Then fire up Garageband and find "Orchestra Strings 08"
Viola!
This doesn't mean that FortMinor uses GB, they might, but I doubt it, they're probably using Logic or ProTools.
This proves that garageband samples are royalty free in a big way, as Fort minor is actually on a record label and using the loops!
I just thought this was neat.
