I didn't see the keynote presentation at WWDC 2010 but I did view the long presentation on the Apple site. Wow that new screen looks wonderful. Will they put something like that on the next iPad? What about the iPod Touch?
I'd consider getting an iPod Touch if it had all of the features of the iPhone minus the phone part.
With iMovie now added to iOS 4 that means that when I get an iPad with the new OS, I'll have almost all of the features I need to use it as a Mac Book replacement. Editing movies was the one thing I didn't know if I would ever be able to do on an iPad.
Other features I want are the ability to use an external storage device and a good filing system. I think there are developers out there working on such things. By the time I get my iPad everything I need in a computer will be on it.
I suppose there could be a glitch to the iMovie on the iOS 4. I didn't hear them demonstrate editing movies not shot using the iPhone. If it only edits iPhone movies I'll be disappointed.
Were you impressed with the new capabilities of the iPhone?

I read on some site that iMovie will be exclusive to the iPhone for now. I'm disappointed that it won't be available for the iPad. Perhaps Apple will change that by the fall.
I still wonder if iMovie for the iPhone can import movies and edit them. Whoever gets an iPhone 4 this month, try importing a movie and editing it so we can know if it has that capability.

I would imagine that iMovie for the iPhone is really for editing the movies that you capture with your iPhone. I can't imagine that the CPU in an iPhone is much use for editing anything bigger.

I think Apple have missed a trick here. They could let the user shoot the video on the iPhone 4 and then send the video to the iPad to do the video editing on the larger screen.

That's a really good idea. It is always my hope that Apple pays some people to monitor forums so they can learn what people want and don't want. Maybe someone at Apple will see your post.
There have been a couple of times where I've made feature requests for my Mac. I've also filed bug reports. My feature requests haven't ever been part of Safari or iMovie upgrades. None of the software updates has handled the bugs either. It makes me wonder if Apple really considers them.
