My magsafe power adaptor appears to have stopped working. Is there anything that I need to be looking or is it simply a new one.

Maybe shine up the contacts with some steel wool.

-ensuring it's not still connected to the mains.  Scotchbrite is good too...

sounds simple make sure the socket it is plugged into it is in has power. test the socket/plug with a lamp.
