Hello world !
I'll be changing my computer to a Mac mini during the following days.
I currently have a 4.5 years old Mac G5 dual 2.0 GHz, with 4 GB ram, ATI x850 XT video card (256 MB) and Tiger 10.4.11. I'm forced to change the computer because the video card is now dying and all repair/replacement solutions are too costly and aren't worth it.
I intend to buy the Mac mini 2.53 GHz core 2 duo, 4 GB ram, 320 GB HD and NVidia 9400M (256 MB). This way, I'll be saving the G5's extended keyboard, 3-buttons mouse and 20" LCD monitor.
How can you compare the mini to the G5 dual ? More specifically, what about the integrated NVidia 9400M (with shared 256 MB), compared to the ATI x850 XT (256 MB) video card ?
The stuff I'm doing on my computer are some 3D modeling (using Cheetah3D), some pictures retouching and textures creations (using Photoshop), maths calculation (using Mathematica), some "old" games playing (mostly GLQuake1 and Quake3), music listening, DVD movies listening and the usual internet stuff (emails, web surfing, etc).
Thanks. _________________ >>> Microsoft free zone <<< |

I hope you're not buying the extra RAM and HD space from Apple? $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Buy the CPU configuration you want from Apple (with minimum Apple addons) and upgrade it yourself, from third party suppliers recommended here. _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |
