As a student, does anyone know if I may obtain my education discount simply by showing my valid Student Photo ID card when buying stuff at an Apple Store?

I was going to buy a Macbook and submit the receipt to the financial aid office for reimbursement. My PELL Grant will allow me to spend up to $1,000.00 on computer stuff.

It shouldn't be that big of a problem. You can actually take your discount on Apple's website. It will ask you which state etc. Find your institution, click, then proceed to the section with educational rates. Or go in person to the Apple store in your area with your student ID. Either one.

Generally you need to login to the store from your education network and tell the challenge prompt which institute you're from -then all the prices are listed with discount. You should be able to pay with your own credit card, specify your home address as delivery point and use your personal email addy.
I've bought several personal computers using the educational discount (which is available to staff aswell Wink) without issue.
You should get your discount (about 10-15%) and 3 years free AppleCare -well, we do at Imperial College, your institute may have a different deal...

You can definitely get the Educator price on Apple equipment in the Apple store; at least you can in Canada. You do have to show ID.

I also got the discount in store (UK), I just showed my student card. I bought my iMac and then later a Macbook without any problems.

Yep.

I called The Apple Store in Charleston this afternoon and they confirmed that I can get the education discount in the store with a valid student ID card.

Good use of that Pell Grant. Didn't know they can be used for computers. I gotta look into that if mine comes through.

I'm not sure how the discounts are in the US but in the UK there are two educational discount schemes. The Educational Discount is meant for high school / college level and gives a lower level of discount than the Higher Education Discount scheme meant for University level education.

So.......if I go to the local collage campus and
use their Wi-Fi in the students coffee shop
to access the Apple Store and order a Mac
using the Student Section of the Apple web site.
I should be able to get the student discount.
What do you think.
I know I'm not technically a student of that university
but 10% off with free Apple Care is tempting.

Why do you think I'm on Alcatraz?
Don't ask!!!!!!

Sometimes I'm SLOOOOOOOOW!!!
I have a job scrubbing the toilets
I mean doing office work in the
prison office on the ROCK. Damn
if I don't qualify for the Govt. discount.
Go figure. Sometimes it pays to be
honest.........it just feels wrong.
