How to access files saved by PC on External HD with mini?

Hi All,

I currently have all my important stuff backed up on a HP Simplesave, which is NTFS, and am not sure how much longer my PC will last. So, the question is, would I be able to open the files on a VM Windows, and somehow drag it to the mac side, and then re-save on the external HD? I will be running Parallels.

Apples operating systems have been able to read NTFS for some time now. Writing is something else, but you can connect it to the mini and read it directly.
