Posted by: Glenn

Apple today released new v1.1 combo updates for Mac OS X 10.6.3 on their website. The updates don't include a list of changes over the prior Mac OS X 10.6.3 combo updates, but are recommended for all Snow Leopard and Snow Leopard Server users looking to upgrade with the combo update. The Mac OS X v10.6.3 v1.1 combo update weighs in at 785.29 MB and requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. The Mac OS X Server 10.6.3 v1.1 combo update, on the other hand, weighs in at 897.32 MB and requires Mac OS X Server 10.6 or later.

I wonder why its been designated 10.6.3 v1.1 and not 10.6.4 Confused

My iMac became very unstable after updating to 10.6.3 so I've had to reformat and reload a fresh copy of OS X. I've since updated it back to 10.6.2 but have avoided adding 10.6.3. My system has been stable since reverting to 10.6.2, I'm avoiding 10.6.3 for now and I'm not sure I even want to try 10.6.3 v1.1

I not sure why anyone would want them either. Especially if they can't say what issues are corrected.

• resolve an issue that prevented files from copying to Windows file servers
• improve performance of Logic Pro 9 and Main Stage 2 when running in 64-bit mode
• improve sleep and wake reliability when using Bonjour wake on demand
• address a color issue in iMovie with HD content
• improve printing reliability
• resolve issues with recurring events in iCal when connected to an Exchange server
• improve the reliability of 3rd party USB input devices
• fix glowing, stuck, or dark pixels when viewing video from the iMac (Late 2009) built-in iSight camera

My understanding is that if it does NOT show up in Software Update you don't need it. Supposedly only for certain folks who updated from 10.6.1 to 10.6.3.

Would be helpful if Apple was a little more verbose in explaining these things.

Neither of my macs running SL needed it. It's kind of a strange update though.

I think those are the same at 10.6.3 though. There is no difference.

As you likely know there were a lot of issues with the recent 10.6.3 update. It looks as though there are no additional features, just fixes to the original .3 update thus the .3.1 designation.

Personally I'm running 10.6.2. I will likely skip 10.6.3 all together.

I gave up on 10.6.3 and rolled my Macs back to 10.6.2. I was just having too many issues with AirPort and Safari. I'm not even willing to try this update. Bring on 10.6.4!

Apple have updated their update. Wink

Seems like 10.6.3 was rushed out and we were the beta testers. Rolling Eyes
