Even though System Profiler reports the ram as ok, it might not be. The only way to truly test it is to use a third party diagnostic. Apple techs have a bootable ASD disc they use. I test all my new ram with memtest on a 3-5 hour cycle. I did help a buddy trouble shoot a similar problem. He found it was a external drive giving him intermediate freezes. I believe Techtool Pro has a bootable disc that can test all available ram. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

OK with further Searching Apple says you can Ignore It! Maybe I'm imagining things but me Pages are running Slow in Safari. I must confess I was on Rapidshare Last Night. Could I have a Trojan? _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I think that this is going to be a long, slow game of one-at-a-time elimination. I'd start with Tony's advice, and test your memory thoroughly.
If that's okay, then it'll be time to turn your attention to those temperatures and the operation of the cooling fans. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

How do I test the RAM?
You all know all my Problems require "The Game of Elimination" & it almost ALWAYS winds up being something I never suspected.
Why the Temperature? I thought that was all fine!
So no chance of a Virus? _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I don't know Dino. I can't be certain what's wrong with your Mac, but something's wrong with it. I would test everything, but I'd do it one by one.
It won't hurt to install a fan control program to see if increasing the fan speed has any effect on your Mac's stability.
But I'd do that after running the memory utility that Tony uses. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Dino poke around the net for MemTest 4.2 or 4.21. If you can't find it I'll send you a copy when I get home later. What other diagnostic disk do you have at your disposal? _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

Ok, I did a RAM Test & All is Good! Everything is running Fine. My only problem is booting up. It gets stuck & freezes about 3 revolutions of the Loading Up Swirl. And then sometimes it just boots up with no Freezes. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

OK. That's what I thought. The Update! I'm going to reinstall the 10.6.3 Combo Update from Apple's web site. Is the Combo one the one to Install or just the regular one. The Combo has like 50 more MB's. It should not hurt to install again. I did the normal Software Update when I installed it 3 days ago. I'm going to try that before I do a complete Erase & Install, as I'm not too excited about doing that. Phil, Thanks for the Ram offer anyway! _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Phillip, did you do just a normal Software Update, or go to Apple's Site to Download & Install the Combo Update? I know most people recommend not using Software Update when doing these Large type of OS updates. But I have always used Software Update with no problems. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

I've been having random freezes for most of the last week. They are really weird in that I know the iMac has crashed but I can still use the mouse and can even connect to it remotely and browse around the HDD. When it froze this morning I was watching the Space Shuttle launch and even though the machine had frozen the media kept playing. the mouse was moving around the screens but I couldn't operate any menu's or close any apps. I finished watching the launch before doing a hard reset to restart the machine.
Looking through my console logs it turned out to be related to my printer, which I haven't used in the last week. the logs showed the driver having crashed around the time my system froze.
I know this isn't likely to be your issue but I'm guessing my printer driver problem has been triggered by the OS update to 10.6.3
On your system Dino, have you disturbed the iMac at all ? I've had similar issues before in my PC days with video card not being seated properly in the PCI / AGP slots, also ram needing reseating.
Also on a PC you normally get BIOS beeps on startup which can help to narrow down a problem. The beeps sound at different rates for each fault. Like a sort of morse code. I'm not sure if the Mac can be set to do something similar.
It might be worth checking out you console logs / crash reporter logs etc. _________________ Phil

Cypher, It's been a while since I shut down or restarted. Probably a Week at least. Funny you should mention Printer Driver. I have to use the OSX Gutenprint Driver for my Printer. It's an old HPPSC750 Multi Function. But the Gutenprint Driver is just to Print. So I also installed the HP Mac OSX Drivers from their Website in order to use the Scanner. So that could be my Problem as well. Who knows? _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD
