Well, some early reviews of the iPad are starting to roll in now. This would include reviews from Walt Mossberg of All Things D, David Pogue of The New York Times, Andy Inhatko of the Chicago Sun Times, and Edward C. Baig of USA Today. Overall, they seem to be really impressed with the first generation iPad. Battery life and the overall user experience are said to be exceptional. So, you can find all the links and an excerpt from each review down below. There's also an unboxing video from Stephen Fry with just about all the accessories from Apple.

I only wish the video actually showed how the apps work. Does anyone know how to transfer files to the iPad (through iTunes)?

You should watch the guided tours on Apple's website. They have a video for like each of the native apps.

The iPad syncs up like an iPod, iPod touch or iPhone. Everything is done through iTunes.

Everything in the world will be done through iTunes in the future. I'm talking from having babies to buying toothpaste. You better get used to it. Wink

I was hoping for a third-party look at those Apps.

The iPad always looks so much larger than just having a 10" screen when someone holds it up. I have netbook with a ten inch screen and it just doesn't look that big to me.

I don't like really Walt Mossberg. I think he's too close with Apple to be completely objective. That's not to take away from the iPad though. It’s shaping up to be awesome with a capitol A.

He's also boring as hell.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe were just used to widescreen now and the 4;3 ratio looks bigger. I don't know.

I agree with confusion on the size of the iPad. in all the videos it looks big, even in large man hands, but I look at the spec dimensions and they seem much smaller. hmm.
and an online calculator shows a 9.7" diag 4:3 screen would be 5.83 x 7.75".
confused, cause the screen looks much bigger than that.

he mentioned a number of things the ipad is weak on.

For me I'm am known for being clumsy, and I just imagine this falling ONCE and scattering into tons of little pieces. Maybe I'm paranoid but electronics should be durable to normal wear and tear.

I just totally see somebody pulling out of there back pack slipping out of their hands and shattering all over the floor.

Typically I wait a few years before I buy any apple product. Version 2 or 3 will be great as for now PASS.

There is more glass on the iPad, but the iPhone is surprisingly rugged. I'm thinking it will do okay with an average fall. Just as long as it isn't face first.

I have nerve damage in my neck and it affects my fingers. I drop things all the time. I saw a case for the iPad that is similar to bubble wrap. It is really ugly but I will get one when I buy my iPad. Without it the iPad will be destroyed. It isn't a matter of if I drop it but when. Right now if you search Amazon.com for iPad case it will be there amongst many others.

You could always get one of those rubber cases. Dropping an electronic device isn't really normal wear and tear - and if it were, we would have some ugly electronics like the Lacie Rugged Drive and the Panasonic Tough Book.
