Well, after thinking about it for months, and looking for a Mini over the last fews days... I've agreed on a price for a 2nd Mini
I got so bogged down with what I wanted, what I wanted it for and how much I should be spending, I just went and made a couple of rash purchases this evening.
2nd Hand Mac Mini 2GB Intel Core, 2GB Mem & 120GB drive - £380
Brand New Apple Wireless Bluetooth Mighty Mouse - £34.50
Apple Store Refurbished Wireless Bluetooth keyboard - £39
Apple Store Brand new personalised 32GB Ipod touch – £234
Know I paid a little over the odds for the ipod, but our first one so wanted it personalised, and to be sure it would be current & right. As for the other Mini, what do you guys think?
Appreciate feedback, good, bad or ugly
Might see me posted a little on the forum now, Especially when I start considering adding 1TB of external storage!

Hi - and welcome to another UK mini owner!
Is that actually a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo? Not a bad UK price, if it's in good condition with the original System Discs, box and Superdrive (DVD-writer).
First thing (if you're up for this sort of thing) would be to upgrade the RAM (to 4GB?) and HD (to 500GB?) A "reasonable" DIY job, once you've.... opened the case! See here. _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |

Hi Ted,
Welcome to the forum and to our band of UK based 123macmini members
I think the early 2.0Ghz Core2Duo's were limited to 2GB (possible 3GBs) so probably best to check before doing any upgrades. _________________ Phil

Welcome to the club house, Ted and congrats on the purchases. As Cypher said, there are a few Brit regulars here. We'll be passing round the cups of tea and the cucumber sandwiches a bit later... _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Thanks all - can't wait to go and pick the thing up, but have agreed with seller that I'll wait till my mouse & keyB have arrived and we can pair them at his house (good way of seeing the machine running before I part with the cash!). Will just have to make some more team and cucumber sandwiches while I wait for the Queens postman to call -
As for the upgrade information, very useful thanks. May wait and see if I do need to upgrade as yet, all I have planned is Music and Photo media server and general internet access. Will need to add storage thou, 500Gb won't be enough so I'll look for a firewire external drive I think. The TimeCap look good, but quite expensive so may look at another drive.
Will post how I get on later this week, it will be my very first time of seeing a Mac run, let alone using one
Cheers
