I was hoping there might be some last minute additions, but I'm still going to go ahead and order the entry-level Wi-Fi model. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

| I've decided not to buy the first generation iPad. It's not so much the lack of support for Flash or ability run multiple apps, it's the lack of a camera and Apple's recent track record when it comes to new hardware. I certainly don't want to be dealing with iMac type screen issues. I do like the general idea and design of the iPad though. I can absolutely see myself buying one down the road. Just make sure the next one has a camera. |

I'm really debating, I love my iPhone and shortly I'll have a second office I'll be using a couple days a week. I really don't think I'll need a full blown second computer and I really don't want a laptop, so the iPad opens up some great possibilities. However, I'm not a big fan of first generation anything, one reason why I waited on my iPhone. But the iPad is in many ways the next generation iPhone. Humm I dunno, probabl wait to see what the initial reactions are and not jump in on opening day. _________________ iMac 24" 2.4 GHz 4GB | Logitech S530 | Z-2300 speakers | NewerTech Guardian MAXimus RAID

I keep swinging one way and then the other with the iPad
I was planning on picking one up at the end of March, even better that I get my bonus from work the week before, but it now looks like I'll have another month of "Should I... Shouldn't I" seeing as we're getting a later release date and I wonder if I'll actually have any of my bonus money left at the end of April _________________ Phil

Make my reservation for a 32GB Wi-Fi model please! Hey, I sold my MacBook Air for this puppy before the announcement...so I gotta be excited, right?
I actually regret making that decision, but what are you going to do? I think this offers me as much as a standard netbook though. |

I'm undecided, but I would definitely get the 3G model, probably 16gb. I have an unlocked iPhone with no data plan (and no contract!), so I want the 3G iPad option.
I just would want to sell some unwanted items first to help cover the outlay for, IMO, an unneeded luxury item.

When announced, I was planning to go with the 64GB 3G model, but now I think I might stick with the 32GB 3G model - I still have some time to think about that though.
I know many are complaining about camera's and flash support, and how it's first gen - but that's not a big deal to me. It seems many sites I visit have an iPhone version of the site, or even an App. Camera's are a big no where I work, so that actually makes life easier to get through security.
...and if Apple does come out with a way better iPad in a few months or a year, no biggie, just take care of it, and sell it on Ebay when the new one comes out. That's what I did with my original iPhone and my 3G, and will likely do with my 3Gs in a few months. It's pretty amazing how Apple products don't depreciate that fast. |

If you're in school, have kids in school, or work for a company that get Apple discounts, you could likely get a discount at the Apple Store. That applies if your a NAPP, MacGuild, or member of other such clubs/organizations.
Other than the stores you listed, there's also MacMall. |

I'm still not sold on the iPad. I just don't see why I need one over the iPhone in my pocket. The device really seems more geared towards sitting on the couch with. And for that, I already have a MacBook Pro. That being said, my birthday is on April 5th. Please feel free to surprise me. |

I'm in the same boat. I doubt I will get one. I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a Asus netbook if I need internet on the road.
I can see my living room TV while I'm using my Mac mini. If I'm laying down on the couch and watching television, I can get off my butt and walk 10 feet to use the internet.
I've heard people comment that the iPhone has changed their lives. The iPad may do the same for many people. Personally, I'm able to adapt to my settings. I don't feel like buying every new gadget that comes out, in an effort to become lazy.
All this being said, I might get an iPad if it truly is the device that "changes" the way we use technology. However, I'm not going to be an early adopter. I'll wait until I hear all the stories about how it has "changed" people lives and then I'll decide if I'm willing to buy in. Currently the device is nothing more than hype. |

We might be sounding more like our fathers everyday. "I remember walking to school in ten feet of snow with no shoes."
The iPhone has changed my life as far as mobile devices go. I just don't see where the iPad changes the game at this time. I mean, it's not going to be as easy to hold or carry around as the iPhone or iPod touch. Nor is it as flexible or powerful as a traditional desktop or laptop computer. It's just hanging around in the middle as an oversized iPhone or iPod touch. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, cause those devices have already changed people's lives, but that just seems thin to me.
I guess they are just banking on people wanting the larger screen and this eBook and magazine stuff. Maybe that is the game changer we are missing. I can also understand that people want the latest Apple gizmo for the trendy factor. I'm sure that it will be really popular. I just don't see it fitting into my life as a middle-aged man. Honestly, the TV, computers and iPhone have me covered. |

I read my own post a couple times and I was thinking of deleting it. I do sound like an old man . Getting laid off during a recession gives you a different perspective on the value of things. When I was making oil field wages, I probably wouldn't have thought twice about buying an iPad. I want to remain positive and open to new technologies, that's why I'm going to keep an open mind. It's just going to be a bit tougher to get my money. |
