|
|
Hi again. questions questions.
Today my topic is external hard disks
My current configuration is the mac mini with 1 gig ram and a LaCie 80gig external hard disk.
Would it be more efficient to put the operating system on the Lacie Drive rather than on the 5400 rpm drive. In doing this would this give me more logical access to the drive rather than just having a spare drive that doesn't really get used that much? _________________ Proud switcher to the Mac Mini

Not sure what you mean about "logical access" but assuming your external drive is 7200rpm you will see some performace improvement with OS X on the external drive.
This is what I do, and I use the internal disk as a secondary scratch disk for Photoshop.

Lets see if I can be a little more clear.
Years ago I installed Linux on multiple disks, ie some stuff for the os installed on drive 1 then some other stuff installed on drive 2. So what I am trying to do is do something similar in windows. Move the location of certain folders. Such as music; documents etc.
With my rather limited knowledge of Mac OSX Im not sure if any of this makes sense ? _________________ Proud switcher to the Mac Mini

Ha ha now I know how to word it. I'll just tell you what I want to do
In finder you have a Music folder. The location of this is on the internal drive which is located at /usr/accountname
What I want to do is move it from the internal drive to the Lacie drive. Can this be done. This is so I can store my music via iTunes directly on the Lacie drive
Hope this makes sense now _________________ Proud switcher to the Mac Mini
