It is due by 10:30 am. At least that is what Fedex tracking reads . I am going to set it up in the computer room for a few days to be sure it works right then I will wall mount it in the kitchen. I am looking forward to using it. I am hoping no dead pixels no flicker no tinge no grey bars. I am hoping quiet hdd. It will be pretty fast.
Down the road I will put in a better hdd. It comes with a 1tb hitachi. I may put in a 256gb ssd but Not until I get a very good price. It looks pretty hard to take it apart. So that upgrade will not be done quickly. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

It arrived and it is set up. Less then 20 minutes to get it hooked up and on the net. Gotta love mac osx. First impressions I could use this on my computer desk. yeah it is bigger but it is so much clearer then the 24 inch 1920 by 1200 screen. Fan is very quiet really quiet. It is snappy when calling up apps. speakers are pretty good.
If only it was 800! not 1600! I did pay less with various rebates. I am going to run this with xbench and do some quick testing. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc2=412650
imac 3.06 vs macmini 2.66 total
I---------------M
174------------204.68 -------total score
4---------------8--------------ram
219.22--------189.06 CPU
the two tests below really show the speed of the ssd over the hdd
I ----------------- M
13.05---------------1285.38 random uncached write 4k blocks
1.38 MB/sec--------136.07 MB/sec
.85 MB/sec--------- 10.29 MB/sec
120.65---------------1452.21 random uncached read 4k blocks
I am not going to swap the ssd into the imac anytime soon. if you go to the link above it shows the scores of the two machines factor out the ssd and the imac is far faster then the mini. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

I just added 16gb ram so it is maxed. it had samsung ram pair of 2 gb sticks. it now has 16gb 4 4gb sticks of supertalent ram (samsung chips) so far it works well. I just played a standard dvd picture was okay due to the iMac exposing film flaws sound is nice. you could use the speakers as stand alone or add a sub only for added bass. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

The built in speakers are good you can get away with adding a small sub and just use the built in speakers. I just have to figure if I can run them that way. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

the interior is cool it has 3 fans.
cpu = ______________ 99 f
room temp = _________ 73 f
optical drive = ________111 f while watching heartbreak hotel
mem controller = _____117 f with 16 ram 4 4gb sticks
GPU Heatsink = _______122 f
GPU Diode = _________124 f
Northbridge = ________140 f
Power Supply 2 = _____126 f
The screen feels warm the top of machine is warm. The interior numbers are what counts. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

I'm envious! That would be so cool to mount your Imac, then be able to keep the keyboard & mouse out of sight until you need. Would make for a very clean workspace. Congratz again, and keep us updated.
I'll be interested because down the line I'd like to get one for my studio. |

well I have been testing the iMac. First off i purchased apple care for 69 dollars off an ebay seller.
ebay link for applecare
after rebates only 60 bucks.
I registered the plan and burned a tech tools dvd from apple online the imac passed eveything all 16gb ram hdd's video card. etc. next I setup the new owc mercury elite-al pro Qx2. This one has 4 samsung 1tb drives in a stripe raid for max speed. take a look at the test
scores for My iMac
http://db.xbench.com/search.xhtml?text=zzzzz5
The highest score is with the owc and 4 1tb drives far better then the internal hdd.
owc score
http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc2=428527
highest internal hdd score
http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc2=428020 what I find remarkable is the improvement in 4k random write blocks and 4k random read blocks
random write is 17.85 MB/ sec with owc and a fw800 connection as a 4tb stripe
random write is 1.79 MB/sec with oem 1tb hdd.
random read is 10.01 MB/sec with owc and a fw800 connection as a 4tb stripe
random read is 0.79 MB/sec with oem 1tb hdd
overall the owc osx gave me a 228 xbench vs 187 oem internal hdd. same osx on both drives just clone with superduper.
this is a remarkable improvement a good way to run a super fast stripe raid would be a pair of the samsung f3 1tb's and owc's
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEFW936AL2/
this could be done for about 275 with a pair of samsung f3 1tb hdds in a 2tb stripe. would hook up to your mini's fw800 and have more storage and speed then an internal hdd upgrade. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram
