I've been planning ahead and have already procured a A1243 keyboard and mini DVI to VGA adapter from eBay sellers.
So I have time to prepare for the switch-over. Back up data and investigate how to move mail from an old Windows Eudora install to (probably) Thunderbird on the mini. Should be straightforward enough, I back up to an old Synology DiskStation so once I've mapped a network drive should have no real problems with any of that. |

Arrived 11:30. Now configured with Firefox, Xmarks loaded, Skype working with MSI 370i web cam (use Sonix SN9C105 driver - works perfectly) 
Haven't mastered the keyboard yet. Where is the equivelent of Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v, 'home' and 'end'? Had to do some fiddling to enable the spell check in Firefox too.
Looking good so far. It is amazing how slow an aged AMD Athelon PC with 512Mb of Ram and a slow hard drive was! Even surfing the internet is faster!
Yet to do the email move.... |

command+C and command+V
for home and end, try the command+up-down and left-right arrows.

Yes "command" is the key to the left and right of the spacebar with the picture of the apple on it. "Home" and "End" are replaced by command+left arrow and command+right arrow. Option+left/right arrow moves the cursor to the last/next word.
As jb suggests, it's well worth learning the effect on cursor position that you get when you combine the modifier keys ('command' or 'option') with the arrow keys.

The Microsoft trackball does work perfectly - and with the same functionality I'm used to!
All the buttons can be programmed in different applications.
And I've discovered how to take screen shots! (cmd+shift+4) |

You can go into Applications > Utilities > Grab & drag it into your Doc. That takes screenshots using your mouse: Selection, Window, Screen, Timed Screen.
