I've been meaning to start a thread about this for a while. Hey, I don't want to be known for just starting hamburger threads.
What's the default/master ringer or ringtone on your iPhone these days?
Not a big surprise, but here's mine.
Save that iTunes Preview link in Safari, change it to .m4r and it can be yours too. |

I'm using 'You Know my Name, look up tha Number" by the Beatles.
---so ---Save that iTunes Preview link in Safari, change it to .m4r and it can be yours too....
please explain.
I already make ringtones myself in iTunes, but it's a little glitchy.
when I set start and stop times and convert to AAC the start time sets fine, BUT it doesn't set the stop time right, and goes to the end of the song. so I have to make a new file from that file and set stop time a 2nd time and then the stop time sets correctly.
does that makes sense, anyone else have that happening?
when I made tones last year in iTunes this did not happen.
anyway, if there's a quicker way in preview I'll try it.
thanks. |

That's a good one.

You can save those iTunes Preview tracks as ringtones.
Get a link for what you want in iTunes and copy it into Safari.
Let's say it something from this album...
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/i-gotta-feeling/id318390146?i=318393999&v0
View the page source in Safari and look for the song links ending .m4a. The song titles will be to the right of the links, so they are easy to spot
This would be the link for the song I Gotta Feeling...
http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/030/Music/05/d1/d0/mzm.mzrrvpug.aac.p.m4a
Command C and then V that link into Safari Downloads.
Then go to the folder where the file resides.
Change the file name to whatever you want and the extension to .m4r.
Then take that and drop it into iTunes. That's how you can save anything in iTunes Preview as a ringtone. Not sure if that's 100% legal, but you'll have to decide that on your own.

I take it from the top, but that wouldn't be a bad starting place.

I use "A still more glorious Dawn awaits", it's a clip from the song on symphony of science, just not very loud even at max volume and not good for an alarm, I used to use a song with a rooster, but you can't use songs for alarms as far as I've tried. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
