Is it possible to run a ad hoc via wifi and still have a wifi connection for internet?

Technically yes it's 802.11s protocol (client mesh protocol), however most wi-fi chipsets do not support it, so chances are no, however you could buy a USB wi-fi adapter and try that, I've never done it in OS X, but I have done this in Linux with dual USB wi-fi adapters and in Windows using a PCI wi-fi adapter and a USB wi-fi adapter.

Thanks Dungeon. I figured I could do it with 2 pieces of wifi hardware. I was just seeing if it could be done with one. The scenario is, one netbook, one iphone. I want to use the Logitech touch mouse app via an ad hoc wifi and still use the same internal wifi card to connect to the internet. I was bored at work this morning.

The network was a public network and there was lag with the app. I was also pondering the thought of someone else with the app on their iphone controlling my computer. Like if I was giving a presentation for example and using the app on a public network. Having a ad hoc for the app and still being able to have a wifi connection on the same card would solve it with out more hardware. This was all just some daytime fooling around at work and it got me wondering.

I did notice that. It would be handy to have a password or some preset key so you could pair ipod/computer. |
