I've noticed that whenever a Macbook is used on a TV show...

The Apple logo on the lid is always semi-obstructed with a sticker of some sort or some sort of paper cut-out. One show...probably on HGTV...even had a piece of paper taped over the Apple to make it look like a pear!

Another was on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory": Leonard's giving a little speech to a group of would-be research students. His Macbook Pro has the logo partially obscured with some sort of sticker.

In contrast, I've watched FOX news in the morning where the announcers have their Macbooks set up on the desk with nothing obscuring the logo.

Do the "entertainment" TV shows often do this so as not to run afoul of paying Apple a license fee for displaying their logo? If someone was using a Macbook on a sitcom would Apple expect the TV network to pay them a license/use fee for that?

Who knows something? Confused Because I sure don't. Laughing

To be honest, I've seen this done with other brands of laptops, too.

I think it has to do with a fee or endorsement issue.

I always think it funny, especially when a service hasn't support the Mac, but the people using that service in an ad have Apple keyboards and mice.

Finally Fast Dot Com is one of them. Their ads clearly state "for Windows PC users only" yet they feature people using iMacs Laughing

Its considered to be advertising. Sometimes manufacturers or ad agencies or whoever actually pay to have their product used in the show, although this happens more with movies. Same reason a lot of times we see other well known logos, like Coke either covered up or altered so it says something else or just becomes another design.
