how much of a difference would i see between an iMac with a 3.06GHz dual core processor and one with a 2.66GHz quad-core processor. im assuming its at least twice as fast just because it has double the amount of cores. _________________ MacBook Pro 15" 2.5ghz 4g ram 200g HDD

What would you be using it for ?
Everyday tasks not much...
e.g email, browsing web
Heavy tasks enough to warrant the extra price...
e.g. a lot of video processing, heavy graphical work |

well you get two upgrades the processor and the graphic card are upgraded.
the 2.66 is about 230 usd
the 2.8 is about 320 usd
they claim around a 50 % boost in speed over a dual core
this is a graphic chip review
http://www.hardwareguru.com/article/ati-radeon-hd-4670-review/1
if you play games you want the quad core.
the quad core has the 4850 radeon chip standard.
the 3.06 has the radeon 4670 chip the 4850 chip is far better then the 4670 chip. if you buy the core 2 you need to get the graphic chip update for better gaming. that costs 150 you may as well buy the 266 quad core it has the better graphics card. A card designed to handle the extra pixels of the 27 inch screen. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

id be playing games but a 3.06GHz is still a very nice and very fast processor. i want to play diablo 3 and i would like to run bootcamp and play team fortress and a couple other games. if i was getting the 3.06 i would be upgrading the grafics card to the 512MB anyway. _________________ MacBook Pro 15" 2.5ghz 4g ram 200g HDD

If your not Gaming or doing a lot of Video Rendering. And don't use a CAD program then the 3.06 is fast & Stable enough. I just exchanged mine & it did everything I needed it to do with ease. Including Video rendering. Much faster than my Mac Mini. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD
