I realize there are different methods to install Windows 7 on a Mac. But, is it possible to upgrade from XP to Win 7? I'm waiting to purchase the Win 7 student update until I get this figured out. Looks like Microsoft is also selling the full version of Win 7 from their store at the student price. Unfortunately this requires a school email address. I am a student and have been verified, but do not have school email. Unfortunately this limits me to the update only. Now I don't even know if this is going to do me any good from what I've seen.

Sure. However, I believe that the upgrade path is: copy the XP user accounts and stuff, delete XP, install 7, restore user accounts and stuff. Microsoft also estimates that it can take up to 15 hours to do this, depending on the XP set up and other factors.
I think Frys was selling the OEM version of 7 for $109. It's basically just the disc and basic instructions, in either 32bit or 64 bit versions. You might wanna check there.

Thanks. I don't need 7 that much though. Matter of fact I don't need it at all. It was just going to be something to play with since it was cheap. But it sounds like it may be more complicated than its worth.

I'd go with it myself. Once the RC version that I have starts shutting down or whatever it's gonna do in a few months I'm just gonna back up the stuff on my XP partition, and wipe the drive and start fresh.
Trying to use XP after going with 7 is almost painful!
